Each piece of sculpture is designed and built entirely by my own hands from start to finish. The unique designs of my sculptures bring together a unity of industrial strength combined with decorative intricacy.
Metal to me is an exciting medium because through cutting, bending and welding, I can achieve an array of many different shapes and forms, in all sizes and finishes. My sculptures are not just visually appealing, but flowing and calming. The smooth, cool, minimalist curves and lines of the steel sculptures that I create are also very tactile.
Im very much a creative person and love nothing more than when my hands are busy. If I'm not fabricating sculptures, I find myself sketching endless drawings of images and symbols generating ideas for new sculpture designs. I gather ideas and inspiration from everything around me, from the enviroment and nature to everyday objects.
Born in Burnley, Lancashire. Art was always my main subject during my school years. It started with drawing & painting which I excelled in and then the Japanese art of origami. Transforming that flat sheet of paper into a finished sculpture was truly rewarding for me and I knew then at an early age, that I wanted to become an artist.
I went on to study Art Design at Burnley College, but my creative side which was fascinated by shape and form rapidly developed into designing and making sculptures.
I went on to learn welding & fabrication and have been working with metal for over 23 years. I've combined both my passion for art and my experience in sheet metal to produce unique pieces of
timeless metal art with strong clean flowing lines and bold structures.
The contemporary abstract shapes of my sculptures, and the flowing hand grain surface patterns that I create are a completely unique distinctive characteristic of my artwork.
